Nai Harn Beach - Phuket Travel Guide
Nai Harn Beach is popular due to its proximity to the most beautiful lagoon in Phuket. It is located to the north of Promthep Cape and south of Kata Noi. Samnak Song Nai Harn monastery occupies a major portion of the beach. So the beach is not seeing development like other beaches of Phuket. Also, it is not as crowded as others are. The beach has facilities for many beach sports. During the monsoon months, swimmers should be alert to the flag warnings. Promthep Cape is at a walking distance from the beach and the sunset view there is outstanding.
The beach area is isolated with very few buildings. Le Meridian Phuket Yacht Club is a huge hotel complex that caters to the rich crowd. Though it is named yacht club, it is actually a hotel. The setting of the hotel is excellent and the rooms offer splendid views of the Nai Harn bay. The area also has a couple of resorts that are less expensive. The Casuarina trees and coconut palms form a beautiful backdrop to this picturesque beach. Nai Harn offers excellent romantic getaways and dream holidays.
Even as you drive along the winding roads to Nai Harn bordered by vast plantations, you feel that this beach will be different from busier beaches like Patong. It is like escaping to the other end of the world. In Nai Harn, there are a few expats living permanently, enjoying the beautiful scenery and the serene atmosphere.
Bay of Nai Harn is used for anchoring boats during the high season of November to May, as it offers complete protection from the howling winds. The bay is ideal for swimming as well. Locals prefer this beach for swimming, as the crowd is less and conditions excellent.
Nai Harn is a great beach for surfing enthusiasts during monsoon months. As the beach gets the full impact of the monsoon winds, it is suitable for both body and board surfing. But if you are not a good swimmer, it is better to stay away from water. There are other activities like hiking and climbing in the beautiful lush green surroundings.
There is a Buddhist center behind the beach. It is not a full-fledged monastery, but a few monks live here. This center along with a reservoir located further back, prevents further development of the place. Hopefully, Nai Harn will retain its unspoiled beauty for years to come.
